The marriage registration authority issues a divorce certificate to confirm that the spouses are prepared to divorce and to make reasonable arrangements for their children and to dispose of their property.

Leaving after a divorce can cause you problems across the board, so it's best to take care of it in China.     

If in China you feel that your marriage is on the mend and history is playing out, you can end it by divorcing yesterday. Both you and your wife must agree to divorce in China if they have lived in China for a year or more. If your Chinese wife or husband does not agree to divorce, Chinese courts will recommend reconciliation.
